The South Island!!

My trip consisted of flying into the south island city of Christchurch with Angel on November 8th. We rented a car and drove across the island to the west coast and then up to the northern tip and finally ended in Queenstown, where Angel caught a flight home. Then Emily flew into Queenstown the following morning and we did the sightseeing and thrill seeking activities that Queenstown had to offer, that we could afford. I flew back from Queenstown to Auckland November 16th. One of the best weeks of my life.

Arthur's pass from Christchurch to the west coast

Arthur's pass bridge

Driving the car, Angel and I named it "no breaks Bugsy," because of all the bugs we killed driving along the west coast. We are driving on the left side! :-)

We also had to be careful of those one way bridges!

We did some quick walks in Motueka in the northland of the south island

I'm standing at the trail head in front of Franz Josef glacier.

Fox glacier had stunning lakes that sat in the rock quarry

Along the coast were piles of rocks that were stacked for at least a kilometer of roadway

Here is Angel's and my contribution to the many stacks

I found a pony by one of the beaches. It tried to eat my pants!

Stunning lake along the roadway along the west coast in between the glaciers and Queenstown.

The town of Wanaka, NZ. I could retire there.

Milford Sound cruise. So breathtaking.

Me relaxing on the top deck of the Red Boat Cruises vessel.

Grabbing a beer with Emily at the local bar in Te Anua, NZ. We stayed at a hostel down the street for the evening. I had a great night hanging with the locals and friends.

The Shotover Canyon Swing in Queenstown! It looks a lot more intimidating in person!
